  • Detection And Quality Control Of Host Proteins

Host proteins (HCP) form a major part of the process-related impurities in the production of biologics. The amount of residual HCP in a pharmaceutical product is often considered a critical quality attribute (CQA) because of its potential to affect product safety and efficacy.

  • Definition And Structure Of Antibodies

Antibodies are shaped like the letter 'Y' and their main job is to bind to an invading antigen, but not to kill the antigen - they do not have this function; the binding is to give the antigen a marker to be destroyed. When phagocytes find the marker to destroy, they come forward and swallow the antibody-bound antigen and digest it.

Porcine ELISA Kits FAQs

  • Q

How to screen the Porcine samples of control groups (screening healthy Porcines)?

First of all, the samples required to be submitted for inspection are fresh, clean and typical. For adult pigs, the anterior vena cava or ear vein can be used to collect blood to detect swine fever, pseudorabies, pig blue ear, ring, small, foot-and-mouth disease, epidemic diarrhea, JE antibody and other items, the general number of samples is ≥ 10, 3 to 4 times a year. Only normal pigs can be used as healthy samples. For the sampling of diarrhea pathogens, it is recommended to collect feces and corresponding intestinal (including mesenteric lymph node) samples; for respiratory diseases, lung or lymph nodes can be collected; for reproductive disorders, aborted fetal tissue can be collected.

  • Q

What are the precautions when taking Porcine samples?

In clinical practice, if the samples of diseased pigs need to be sent for examination, the one with a relatively typical clinical disease should be picked out, preferably representing the characteristics of the disease in the whole animal group. The typical tissues of the disease were collected from one or two dissected pigs, mainly lymph nodes, spleen, lungs, kidneys, serum, and tonsils. For the detection of antibodies or pathogens in sows, it is easier to carry out by collecting umbilical cord blood than collecting blood through the ear vein or anterior vena cava in clinical practice.
